Directions to Casa Montejo Museum
Located in the heart of the city, this house was built by the orders of Don Francisco de Montejo, conqueror of the Yucatan Peninsula between 1542 and 1549. In 1981, it was acquired and restored by the National Bank of Mexico. The house is now an on-site museum and cultural center.
There are four permanent rooms; the office-library, the living room, the dining room and the bedroom, furnished in the style of the last quarter of 19th century and first quarter of the 20th century in Mexico. There are also temporal exhibitions from Mexican artists such as photography and paintings.
The entrance to the musuem is free and they are open from tuesdays to sundays. There are guided visits also for free and make sure not to miss the interactive and video room as part of your visit.
The Casa de Montejo Musuem is a must for cultural travelers, you can't always visit the house of an old spanish conquistador!
