Description
Discover the archeological site of Coba on this morning tour. Climb the tallest of the pyramids for spectacular views. At 40 meters high, Nohuch Mul, which in Mayan means big hill, is the largest pyramid on the Yucatan Peninsula. The meaning of the word coba is water stirred by wind. Between 400 and 1100 AD, it was one of the largest cities of the Mayan Classic Period, reaching a population of 50,000 inhabitants. One of the main reasons it was built at this site was the existence of 2 small lakes that could provide for its water needs. On the way you’ll stop to enjoy the pristine waters of the sinkhole Choo-Há, for some relief from the heat. This cenote, circular in its interior, is perfect for snorkeling. It is 10 meters deep and illuminated by natural light, which makes for spectacular underwater views.Includes
