This park is full of history; it was built in 1942 by the Governor Ernesto Novelo. El Parque de las Americas covers four squares, each one evocated a different aspect of the Mayan culture. It is a great place to have a walk in the afternoon. Overall the park symbolizes the Americas Pan-American ideal.
Las Americas park is located in the Garcia Gineres Avenue, not so far from downtown and close to the Centenario zoo, although you may want to take a taxi or public transport to get there. There is live music every Sunday afternoon and it is a popular place among locals to relax with their families.
If you like street food, there are many hawkers selling traditional snacks such as 'Esquites', that is toasted corn with lime and salt; and 'Marquesitas' that can be described as a rolled waffer stuffed with Edam cheese, nutella and other ingredients. Give them a try!
